WRC SAFARI RALLY KENYA Never Disappoints!

Running from 27th to 31st March 2024 the safari rally kept us dazzled. What a thrilling weekend for the rally fans with in the East African Region and Africa as a whole. Well as we expected Toyota Gazzo Racing to take the event, we did not expect the M-Sport ford driver Adrien FOURMAUX on podium. Congrats to Adrien FOURMAUX and co-driver Alexandre CORIA for their Second podium in a raw, great drive well deserved.

The Kenya Safari Rally never disappoints indeed, over a period of three days we saw huge streams of dust behind rally 1 cars as well as mud slides within the same stage. However, this did not stop the fight for number one, With Thierry NEUVILLE, and Ott TÄNAK leading the shake down. We hoped that this is the year that Hyundai conquers the African terrain, however due to early gearbox Issues the team fell short of the expectation.

Kalle ROVANPERÄ with team mates Elfyn Evans and Takamoto Katsuta ended the 1st day in 1-2 and 3 respectively, attempting to pull off last year’s record with all the Toyota’s on the podium. However, two tyre punctures early in the morning of Saturday held Elfyn Evans back allowing Adrien FOURMAUX slide in and end the day in third place where he stayed for the rest of the rally.

With a total time of 3:36:04.0 Kalle ROVANPERÄ with co-driver Jonne HALTTUNEN Won the Safari rally for the second time followed by a crew of Takamoto KATSUTA and Aaron JOHNSTON with a total time of 3:37:41.8 an improvement from Last year’s results where they finished fourth. Ford M-Sport’s Adrien FOURMAUX with co-driver Alexandre CORIA took third with a total time lapse of 3:38:29.1.

Despite the big push on Sunday stages from Team Hyundai, Thierry NEUVILLE finished 5th overall while team mate Ott TÄNAK finished 8th overall. This however gave the team an advantage over the other competitors with NEUVILLE extending his lead in the champion ship by now 5 points over Elfyn EVANS who is 2nd with 61 points, while TÄNAK now places 4th ahead of Sébastien OGIER who did not participate this time in the safari rally. Adrien FOURMAUX now 3rd in the championship with a whooping 46 points, 13 points ahead of TÄNAK. This is gearing up to be a good season.

Rally fans allover the world embraced the event but I Bet Ugandan Fans dominated and enjoyed the event more. The fraternity sent in three buses delivering fans to the event and many more driving in. The Uganda – Kenya Boarder saw more traffic in one day than ever before, all due to the love for the sport.

Next up WRC Croatia Rally ROUND 4 with a total of 68 Entries is scheduled for THU 18 – SUN 21 APR 2024. With its High-speed stretches, challenging hairpin bends and intricate turns on an asphalt surface which varies from smooth to bumpy and badly broken make Croatia Rally a thrilling rollercoaster of excitement.
