Kris Meeke wins Rali De Castelo Branco

Kris Meeke and Co driver James Fulton managed to register their first win together for team Hyundai Portugal in Rali de Castelo Branco.

The event was an asphalt round of the Portuguese Championship running 5th on the Calendar.

It was hosted in Castelo Branco, Central Portugal from 30 June – 01 July 2023.

Kris Meeke joined Hyundai Motorsport Portugal program after the passing of Craig Breen to take on his role for the rest of the season.

James Fulton, a co-driver to the late Craig Breen later confirmed to be proceeding with the program alongside Kris Meeke in honor of his late driver.

Amidst tough competition from Ricardo Teodossio, Jose Pedro Fontes and Bernando Sousa, Kris Meeke managed to win 9 of the 11 stages with the power stage inclusive.

Kris Meeke’s teammate Ricardo Teodossio who seemed to be his closest competitor throughout the event was later relegated to 3rd position overall and Bernando Sousa bouncing to 2nd after the powerstage.

The reigning Portuguese Champion Araujo Armindo and Co driver Ramahlo Luis in their Skoda Fabia RS managed to finish 5th overall with over 37.3sec shy of Kris Meeke.

Being triumphant here, it strengthens Kris Meeke’s bid for the Portuguese Rally championship.
