It was beautiful Sunday afternoon before the heavy downpour as Yasin Nasser and Ali Katumba celebrated their maiden Kabalega hoima rally win.
Driving a Ford fiesta R5 MK2, Yasin outshined his closest competitors Ponsiano Lwakataka in a Subaru N12B and Mubiru Duncan in a Ford fiesta proto to record the shortest time of 1:13:02.45 throughout the 9 stages.
A win from Kabalega rally consolidates Yasin’s table leadership and takes his tally to 298, while Duncan Mubiru tallies 173 NRC points.
Yasin Nasser in his new Ford beast has now recorded three wins in the last seven outings across East Africa and three 2nd podiums while only once out of podium positions where he finished 4th in machakos rally Kenya.
Yasin is determined to chase a record three championships of ARC being the primary target, Uganda and Tanzania national championships as priorities too.
“The win was good for us in terms of Ugandan championship points, we’re hoping to build on this in Jinja.” Yasin explain to RallyGanda.
“It’s been a very fantastic event, earlier it was said to be treaky by some of us since it was a very fast rally but we’ve done it let’s for Jinja before Tanzania and we see, he added.
The next event on the Uganda national championship is EMC Jinja Rally and ARC calendar is Tanzania international rally.
